Quarter One - Informational Text and Historical Fiction

We will begin our study of reading with informational text, specifically focusing on the ways that informational texts are organized. This includes the compare/contrast structure, cause and effect, chronological order, and many more text structures. After our informational text study we will build on our knowledge of specific time periods in the historical fiction unit. Looking at the characteristics of historical fiction will help us make connections between informational texts and fiction. Below is a sample of the type of information we will be studying.
